The Top Model of Colour platform opens up a world of endless
opportunities in modeling to contestants as well as the elusive
possibility of becoming a supermodel at the end of every edition.
Born and largely raised in Ghana, the 24-year-old took to modeling after being scouted at H&M, Central London in 2009. It was an opening that has since become useful, bringing her a lot of attention.
In the last 36 months, she’s become an iconic figure in the United Kingdom, often hailed as the next big supermodel. She’s graced the covers, and done editorials for some of the best selling publications around including the American online magazine E’lon. She is also the face of E’lon’s cosmetic range. She’s modeled for some well known fashion names including Matthew Williamson, whom she once cat-walked for at the London Fashion Week.
In September 2011, she graced the cover of the popular Black Hair Magazine, and had her edition, voted the Best Cover celebrating black beauty by the magazine. A month later, she picked the award for Best Female Model at the Black Entertainment Film Fashion Television Awards (BEFFTA), in acknowledgement of her craft.
The young model is also an aspiring designer. In 2008, she enrolled for a Foundation degree in Arts & Design at the Thurrock and Basildon College. She also studied Fashion Illustration at the London College of Fashion. Antwi is a proud participant at some of La Geneve North events, targeted at both established and up and coming designers.Antwi is hoping to get some mainstream action with her recently-launched clothing brand ‘Adopted Culture’. Only few months old, it became the first ethnic brand to grace the Savile Row in Central London, home to other giant African designers like Ozwald Boateng. It was also selected for Vogue Fashion Night Out in September, 2011
Antwi is also a television presenter, who presents The Hi-Life, an Afrobeats music show on Vox Africa, a private channel in the United Kingdom.An inspiration for most young African people in the United Kingdom, Antwi established her charity foundation Akosua ODei Foundation in 2011. The foundation is targeted at young, single Ghanaian mothers. It was inspired by a 2011 BBC news item that highlighted the challenges of single Ghanaian mothers. The foundation organizes fashion shows to help raise funds for their numerous projects
