So,it finally happened! After all the noise for almost two months, on
Dec 1st,the Red Ribbon Fashion Gala took place at Serena Hotel. It was
attended by many famous faces and names..including Hon MP Zitto Kabwe,
Hon Tanzanian Ambassador to the US and many more
The Tanzania Mitindo House and Flaviana Matata Foundation were the brains behind it all...
Our great MC of the night were Abby and Evans Bukuku, both from Choice
FM. The comedy at this event was on point! Ooooh,by the way, Abby looks
stunning in an Eskado Bird dress, while Evans was all African in a Salim
Ali design shirt
Our entertainment was delivered by Tanzanian Vocalist, Linex ;)) He too was dressed in a designer shirt by Khadija Mwanamboka
We received an overview of where Tanzania Mitindo House came from, it's
stakeholders and partners/sponsors, its supporters and mostly, what TMH
does in general...Big Up Khadija Mwanamboka
She actually prepared Certificates for all of her Sponsors and Supporters....
After the official stuffs,we went to the best part...the actual fashion
show :)... Designs from Khadija Mwanamboka, Eve Collection, Edna,
Gabrield Mollel, Asya Idarous, Martin Kadinda and Mustafa Hassanali were
all showcased...
A more detailed post on who showcased what...coming soon
As in any other fundraising event, wallets have to be touched... This
year, the pieces for auction were TWO Sherri Hill dresses as seen
BELOW...
The yellow number was sold for 4 Million Tshs, while the metallic one
went for 4.8 Mil. Jennifer Bash and Flaviana Matata were the models
parading the two dresses for bidders to have a closer look
I loooove the back of this dress...
Thanks to these two amazing ladies (in red) who bought the dresses
Another item was this stunning dress designed by Eve Collection... It was sold to Mada Ritha Paulsen for 3.2 Million Tshs
She actually bought this dress as she remembered last year's event
whereby she sold an Eve Collection dress to the Late Steven Kanumba :(
Moving on.... The USA entertainment mogul,Russell Simmons did wonders
this year, for Red Ribbon. He sent an all day package of a Russell
Simmons life, including a pair of jeans, a shirt, a pullover, sneakers,
and his book. The package went for 5 Million to Mo Foundation, while the
book was sold for 3Mil+ to Hon Zitto Kabwe
All items were signed by Russell Simmons himself!
Last but not least, the "Udi fire" from Fabak Fashion as designed by
drug free victims. It was sold to Bongo5 for 1.7 Mil, then re-sold to
Maria Tsehai Sarungi for 500,000Tshs...in total,it raised 2.2Mil.
So,that is how the event went down...However,that best part for many of us,is yet to come..the RED CARPET retro :))
